Cantina Bolzano "Hochkofler" Riesling Alto Adige DOC 2021 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Brand: Cantina Bolzano
Riesling arrived in South Tyrol as early as the 19th century. It was brought here by Archduke John of Austria. Considered the king of white grape varieties, Riesling is one of the most refined and elegant white wines. Unlike German Rieslings, those produced in Alto Adige are offered in a drier version, with a low residual sugar. A fine example is this Hochkofler, Riesling Alto Adige DOC from Cantina Bolzano. The grapes come from the winery's own vineyards on the slopes surrounding the city of Bolzano and in the Valle Isarco, at about 500 metres above sea level. Carefully vinified in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, this Riesling has a beautiful greenish yellow colour, with very clear hints of peach, pear, grapefruit, apricot and apple. There is also the classic ethereal note that characterises all Rieslings and is so much appreciated by fans of this noble grape variety. In the mouth it is decidedly dry and mineral. A super elegant wine, perfect with fish and shellfish. But it is also excellent with white meats and mild cheeses.
