Neon fence tester
Brand:
This pocket-sized Neon fence tester is a handy way to test your electric fence, it will give you an approximate reading, a lower the reading means there is a problem. A short in your electric fence occurs when the power escapes to the ground. This can be caused by many issues such as broken wire, tape, rope, or worn insulators, possibly loose or poor connections, or more commonly something touching the fence, such as vegetation.-1. Simply connect the tester to the fence line.2. Place the probe in the ground.3. The lights will light up.-An excellent reading should be : Greater than 6000V, Good: 3800-5900V, Fair: 2500-3800V, Poor: 1800-2500V, Very poor: 1000 -1800V, No lights: less than 1000V-If you have a reading slightly below normal, around 5,000 volts - you probably have a small fault caused by light vegetation or you are trying to electrify a longer distance or material such as tape/rope than the energiser unit can cope with.-If the reading is much lower than 1800V there is a major fault, thorough fence, insulator and earth stake examination is required.-To find a fault, move along the fence line, taking readings every 100 metres or so. As a rule of thumb, the voltage will drop roughly 100 volts every 100 metres as you head in the direction of the fault and will then level out once you pass the fault. If the fault is not obvious, you should systematically isolate areas of your electric fence. For more accurate readings and more specific fault finding, the Digital Voltmeter EF4074 is recommended-FeaturesDurable ABS plastic body230mm (9") x 50mm (2") x 20mm (3/4")Multi lamp display110mm (4.5") ground probe0.65m (28") ground cableNeon fence tester multi lampShows the voltage in six levels
