The Afghan textile art, like any popular artistic expression, can only be understood by considering the geographical location of the country and the variety of ethnic groups that coexist there. Afghanistan is located between West and East and is characterized by the presence on the territory of many ethnic groups, among which the Turkmen that have strong weaving traditions and a marked sense of freedom 'determined by a semi-nomadic life on the fields in contact with nature and their farms. The Afghan Vintage kelims, are the result of an extraordinary research and acquisition of individual pieces which expresses very well the sensitivity and beauty of Afghan textile art. The wools are very often made of goat both in the weft and in the warp: they are dark and strong wools coming from their sheep farms. The dyes are often plant-based which reflects the whole range of colors of their beloved and well-known land; and last but not least, the magic comes with the design of this. Those who observe them must do it calmly, taking the right time, because for example, what could look like simple lines and designs, in reality hide great determination and sensitivity. Often these are carpets without a central medallion, which is instead present in carpets which are the result of a rigid iconographic approach. The alternative of lines like waves and the beauty of the change between colors transmits to the observer a sense of great freedom in addition to the sense of three-dimensionality' that recalls space, the sky and brings with it the thoughts and dreams of who with his hands and his heart has woven every single passage of yarns. Those who buy an Afghan Vintage kelim do so because they speak the same language and because they share its intimate deep meaning. There is no city in the world where an Afghan Vintage Kelim has not found space with pride since the early 1900s. The Afghan Vintage kelims are between 30 to 80 years old.
