Sometimes referred to as HC4, Use Class 4 or "UC4" is the standard of treatment required for timber which will be used directly in the ground as determined by BS EN 335-1.-All our timber stakes and strainers are responsible sourced from the forests throughout Europe. This includes slow grown Redwoods which when treated to our Use Class 4 standards give excellent results, even in the most challenging of environments. All the forests are responsibly managed and replanted after harvesting in line with FSC guidelines.--We have a wide range of fencing posts and stakes available in a range of lengths, diameters and timber. We also have a range of posts and rails available which are commonly used for post and rail fencing.-For more information on the different types of timber available, read our quick guide to choosing the right timber.-We remind customers that wood is a natural living material and this means it is affected by atmospheric and ground conditions, due to the fact that it is not evenly porous, it may dry at an uneven rate. This can create pressure inside the wood potentially causing it to split, warp or twist when its exposed to the atmosphere and sunlight. Pressure treated wood will contract as the water used in the process evaporates from the timber. Natural weathering should not weaken or decrease the life expectancy of the wood. Using dark stain or other coatings will increase U.V. absorption and speed up the drying process. Using sealant or oils will help hold moisture in and lets the timber dry at a slower rate.
