Chateau Gloria 2016, St Julien
Brand: Chateau Gloria
Cru Bourgeois St Julien A really opulent style of Gloria with superb extraction and colour, ripe and rounded fruit and lovely balance. Deliciously juicy with a succulent texture that will give this wine a great laying down potential. Henri Martin, Gloria's owner and once Mayor of Saint Julien was one of Medoc's legendary figures. In 1956 he became President of the Interprofessional Committee of Bordeaux Wines. Beginning in the 1940's, Henri Martin assembled the vineyards of Chateau Gloria with parcels of land from such neighbouring vineyards as Leoville-Poyferre, Gruaud-Larose, Saint Pierre and Duhart-Milon. The property is now run and managed by his son-in-law, Jean-Louis Triaud. The wine is fermented in stainless steel vats and spends 16 months in barrels producing round, generous, rich, long-lasting wines with cedary and spicy bouquets. The wine of Chateau Gloria shows well young, and also ages well.
